New Year Brings New Opportunities For Aspiring Body Piercers With Unique Apprenticeship Through the Academy of Responsible Tattooing
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) December 18, 2014 -- Apprenticeships aren't easy to come by in the tattoo and body piercing industries, yet it is something that every aspiring artist must complete before they become a tattoo artist or body piercer in a professional setting. The Academy of Responsible Tattooing gives aspiring tattoo artists and body piercers a unique opportunity to learn the trade through condensed apprenticeship programs that they hold periodically throughout the year. The next round of body piercing apprenticeships begins on January 1, 2015 and will take place at the school's Philadelphia location.
A traditional body piercing apprenticeship is difficult to obtain, and once aspiring artists do secure one, they are in for a year or more of grueling repetitive work in exchange for learning the art of body piercing. Apprentices often end up with a long list of chores during their training, including cleaning the shop, getting coffee for everyone and taking out the trash. The Academy of Responsible Tattooing takes the dirty work out of the equation and teaches their apprentices everything they need to know in a condensed, four-week program.
“What I love about our apprenticeship is the fact that it’s the fastest and most effective way to make your dream of becoming a professional piercer true. People want to fulfill their dreams, but most just don’t have time to dedicate 40 hours a week to a traditional apprenticeship that’s unpaid, full of grunt work, and still work another job on top of that to pay their bills," said Bill Aquino, creator and lead instructor of the body piercing program at the Academy of Responsible Tattooing.
During the school's month-long program, apprentices learn a wide range of essential skills, from setting up and breaking down a workstation and piercing and placement techniques to sanitation practices and cross contamination prevention. Upon successfully completing the apprenticeship, apprentices will be certified as professional body piercers by the Academy of Responsible Tattooing and will be ready to begin their careers in the body piercing industry.
