'Fatal Promises' by Jeanette Henderson gets new marketing campaign
VALDOSTA, Ga., Sept. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Jeanette Henderson's daughter died in May 2000, after a five-month battle with metastatic cancer. The death and burial of her 34-year-old daughter was a major life-changing moment that tore at her innermost being. There were emotions she cannot describe. She writes "Fatal Promises" (published by Trafford Publishing in September 2004) to give herself the mental stimulation she needed to channel her emotions in a productive manner. Set for a new marketing campaign, this is a fictitious story with real-life overtones that allude to the ills of society in the historical South. An 18-year-old "colored" boy who becomes despondent with the lack of opportunities in a small South Georgia town migrates to New York, hoping for a better life. A 6-year-old "colored" boy is emotionally wounded when his father abandons his mother with no means of support. He vows always to care for his family, if he ever has one. A young, rich southern belle becomes intimate with her employee, whom she vows to love forever, but fate intervenes. A wealthy elderly woman, the sole survivor of her family, hires two young "mulattos," promising to defray the cost of their education if they will work in her home for a year. She is very fond of them, but her reward is much greater than her promise.
"This book will captivate readers' emotions because some of them may have or know someone that may have experienced some of the issues that are depicted by the characters in the book," Henderson says. "Also, nothing has changed in society and the ills presented in this story are more epidemic than in the past."
When asked what she wants readers to take away from her writing of the book, Henderson replies, "the lack of education contributes to many of society's ills. Poor education can lead to crime, drug use, and other harmful actions. There is good and evil, love and hate, in all ethnic groups. A dream can become a reality but it relies on the dreamer and their sense of hope."
