Avid Collector Announces His Search for Original 1970 Jim Morrison and the Doors Boston Arena Concert Posters
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) April 28, 2016 -- Avid collector, Andrew Hawley from Vintage Rock Posters, announces his search for original 1970 Jim Morrison and the Doors Boston Arena concert posters. City officials in Salt Lake City were so appalled by the Doors' performance in Boston they cancelled the show that was supposed to occur the following night in the Utah. The Boston concert was held on April 10. According to Hawley, "The show was put on by concert promoter Fred Samango who also promoted the Doors concert at the Baltimore Civic Center almost a month later. This would be the last time the Doors would play Boston because Morrison died the following year. The poster printed to advertise the Boston show strayed sway from the typical psychedelic concert posters used in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The Boston Arena poster was printed in a boxing style format and features cut-out images of each band member against a black and white layout. The poster is printed on thick cardboard so it could be nailed or stapled to telephone poles in the greater Boston area. The concert was taped and recored professionally by Elektra records and was released decades later on CD.
