Bronx Speaks: 20 Bronx Arts Organization Come Together for Armory Week Exhibit
Bronx, NY (PRWEB) February 18, 2014 -- Bronx Speaks: No Boundaries presented by Bronx Arts Alliance opens March 6th as part of New York Armory Week and honoring Bronx Day.
Bronx Speaks: No Boundaries is the latest exhibit presented by the Bronx Arts Alliance (BxAA) including over 60 artworks selected by a curatorial committee and featuring Bronx, US and international artists from over 20 Bronx arts organizations. The exhibit will take place at The Bronx Museum of the Arts and will be installed by independent curator by Sarah Corona. The exhibit is being presented in concert with New York Armory Week. The opening reception will take place on March 6th, the Armory Show's officially designated Bronx Day.
Bronx Speaks: No Boundaries will preview on Wednesday, March 5th and run through Sunday, March 9th. For the opening reception on March 6th, there will be a roundtrip Trolley leaving at 4pm from Pier 94 in NYC to The Bronx Museum of the Arts.
There are no boundaries anymore for the vibrant, dynamic and diverse artwork that is being created and shown within the Bronx. It is as varied as those who live within its space – all cultures, nationalities and ages – with creative visions all their own. The exhibit will reach from corner to corner of the world and include artists born internationally in India, Thailand, Nigeria, Cuba, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Canada and Scotland; within the United States… and of course…the Bronx! The featured artwork will include painting, works on paper, sculpture, photography, mixed media, site-specific installations, as well as musical performances from those newly arrived emerging artists to late career established ones.
There will be a series of Special Events during the exhibit:
- Preview: Wednesday, March 5th from 5-8pm
-- Roundtable with award-winning writer and photojournalist Michael Kamber to discuss his book Photojournalists on War
-- Bronx Cultural Trolley to The Bronx Museum of the Arts
- Opening Reception: Thursday, March 6th from 5-8pm
-- Performance by esteemed Bronx Hip-Hop duo Circa '95 at 6:30 pm.
-- Cupcakes courtesy of Lloyds Carrot Cake
-- One Roundtrip Trolley leaving at 4 pm from Pier 94 in NYC to The Bronx Museum of the Arts
- Friday Night Jam: Friday, March 7th from 6-8pm
-- Special performance by Malang Jobarteh (West African kora player) and Antonio de Jesus (Puerto Rican Conga player) at 6:30 pm.

About Independent Curator, Sarah Corona
Sarah Corona attended University in Bologna (Italy) where she obtained her BA (with honors) in Fine Arts and a MFA (with honors) in Communication and Management of Art. After several years as Art Manager and Gallery Director she moved to New York, continuing her own curatorial research and curating and managing projects in the arts. She's founder and CEO of BAG - brings art to great people and sarahcrown projects. She reports and writes for several International Art Magazines. Her main interest is to spread the knowledge for art and culture through society, to sustain artistic production and to offer new concepts of interaction between artists and public with the attempt to improve the artistic understanding on an intellectual and on a social level.

The Bronx Museum of the Arts can also be reached by catching the D or B Train at Columbus circle to 167th St. Station on the Grand Concourse. Exit at rear of station, walk south along Grand Concourse two blocks. NOTE: D Train stops all times except rush hours peak direction (6:15 am - 9 am to Manhattan, 4 pm - 6:45 pm from Manhattan). Take B Train at 145 St. to 167th St./ Grand Concourse. Street Parking also available.
The Bronx Cultural Trolley
The Trolley can be picked up at the Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos, on the campus of Hostos Community College at 450 Grand Concourse, Bronx NY. The trolley departs at 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30pm. The trolley ride and admission to participating venues along its route are free. The Bronx Culture Trolley vehicle is wheelchair accessible.
