Helping address the current drug shortage affecting hospitals nationwide

Pentec Health, Inc., an established leader in sterile compounding with an FDA registered 503B Outsourcing Facility licensed in 42 states, announced that local anesthesia drugs, Bupivacaine and Ropivacaine, are now available for order in Pentec Health’s patent-pending, syringe-based configuration, Dilute-N-Go®. As the name indicates, Dilute-N-Go syringes must be diluted prior to administration. These concentrated, sterile solutions (in concentrations that are not commercially available) deliver a precise dose when introduced into an appropriate diluent bag of choice.

The following products are available in the Dilute-N-Go configuration for order:

Bupivacaine HCl 31.25 mg/mL - 4 mL (125 mg) in a 10 mL Syringe
Bupivacaine HCl 31.25 mg/mL - 8 mL (250 mg) in a 10 mL Syringe
Bupivacaine HCl 31.25 mg/mL - 10 mL (312.5 mg) in a 10 mL Syringe
Ropivacaine HCl 33.4 mg/mL - 3 mL (100 mg) in a 10 mL Syringe
Ropivacaine HCl 33.4 mg/mL - 6 mL (200 mg) in a 10 mL Syringe
Ropivacaine HCl 33.4 mg/mL - 7.5 mL (250 mg) in a 10 mL Syringe

“The release of these drugs is our answer to the current drug shortage affecting hospitals nationwide,” said Joseph Cosgrove, Chairman, President, and CEO of Pentec Health. “We strive to provide products that offer value to our customers and their patients. Our innovative solutions not only help to improve existing processes, but can be easily integrated into systems where these drugs are desperately needed.”

Each Dilute-N-Go syringe has multiple safety measures in place to avoid confusion with Ready-To-Administer products, including a ‘Must Be Diluted’ warning on the seal placed over a tamper-evident cap with multiple additional warnings on the product label, box label, and the associated ‘Recommendations For Use’ pamphlet included within every carton of product. It is recommended that Dilute-N-Go inventory is kept in the hospital pharmacy segregated from general stock, similar to the storage treatment of other high alert products on the market.

Dilute-N-Go and its vial-based counterpart, Snap-N-Go®, are designed to help hospital pharmacies combine the flexibility of outsourcing with the control of insourcing. With proper use, the safety and efficiency of Snap-N-Go and Dilute-N-Go products can help reduce error prone steps by more than 85% and cut most of the inherent costs that are associated with drug waste.
