Burwood Group Empowers Young Women to Become Future Leaders at the American Heart Association’s Go Red Goes STEM Event
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 01, 2018 -- Burwood Group, a leading IT consulting and integration firm, announced today it is a proud sponsor of the American Heart Association’s 2018 Go Red Goes STEM program, a day-long event held in Chicago, IL on November 5, 2018. The event aims to inspire and empower high school girls to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by considering careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. As part of the program, Joanna Robinson, Senior Vice President of Technology at Burwood Group, and Jennifer Courtney, Vice President of Professional Services at Burwood Group, will take part in a series of mentoring sessions to connect with participants, share their backgrounds, and highlight STEM career opportunities.
“As an IT consulting firm, Burwood Group has always championed the next generation of women STEM leaders. It’s an issue that is very close to our hearts and is ingrained in our culture,” said Joanna Robinson, SVP of Technology at Burwood Group. “We are honored to sponsor the AHA’s Go Red Goes STEM event and I am personally looking forward to meeting these young women and encouraging them to think big and strive for greatness. Every young woman deserves the opportunity to embrace their imagination, their curiosity, and their creativity. As they pursue their education and careers, I want to inspire participants to be fearless as they represent the next generation of strong female leaders and innovators.”
At the day-long Go Red Goes STEM event, participants will be exposed to some of Chicago’s leading science, technology, and engineering companies as they showcase their innovative work. This event will consist of speed mentoring, breakout sessions led by top STEM-related organizations, and opportunities to make lasting connections with companies and women leaders. Girls will walk away knowing the impact they can make through a career in STEM.
“As a science-based organization, the American Heart Association recognizes the need to have more women at the table, making life-saving breakthroughs in STEM fields,” said Jessie Brady, Senior Director, Go Red For Women. “We are thrilled to partner with Burwood Group to empower young women to take control of their health, and to consider career paths that could impact the health of all Americans.”
