SIL International, a global, faith-based nonprofit, will leverage CABEM’s web-based Competency Management application to track and assign competencies in support of their mission.

SIL International delivers language solutions within local communities around the globe in hopes of expanding possibilities for a better life. They partnered with CABEM to track and assign competencies in support of this mission. The collaboration between SIL International and CABEM has led to several exciting new feature enhancements in the CABEM Competency Manager.

  • SIL International will use the CABEM Competency Manager to create and assign a mentoring relationship workflow that utilizes the concept of competency proficiency levels along with a solution that is user-friendly. The Mentor/Mentee relationship, once configured, results in a development plan that is collaborative and seamless.
  • The CABEM Competency Manager has been configured in 4 languages so far with translations provided by SIL and implementation by CABEM. The Competency Manager will be available in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese for learners all over the world.
  • Linguistics Consultants in SIL train, mentor, and coach field linguists, language community members, and language development program staff in areas of linguistics that are relevant to language development programs. They also conduct ongoing linguistic research and assist others to conduct research and publish their results. CABEM has developed a special report and feature for SIL International to track consultants’ certification levels and their areas of expertise.
  • In addition, CABEM implemented integration with Workday to ensure smoother onboarding/offboarding processes and to keep relevant records in sync as information changes in either system as an employee is trained and gains new skills and certifications.
