LOS ANGELES, Oct. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Enforcement of med spa laws across the state of California has been increasing in recent years as more news reports come out in Fresno, in Orange County and in other parts of the state regarding medical aesthetic practices operating outside of state regulations. AmSpa's legal summary of California medical aesthetic law provides compliance insight into:
- Who can inject Botox,
- Are Botox parties legal,
- Who can perform laser treatments (including intense pulsed light, laser skin resurfacing, and laser hair removal),
- Who can own a med spa,
- What treatments count as the practice of medicine,
- And much more.
"I first heard about AmSpa over a year and a half ago and I was just Googling laws of med spas," says Henna Hamidi, practice manager of E Med Spa in El Cajon, California. "As soon as I signed up every question that I had was there, posted in plain sight, and it was really easy. I think what AmSpa does to connect people across the country is really great and I think it really benefits us as an industry."
The summary, available for AmSpa Basic members, answers over 60 medical spa legal questions, and AmSpa Plus members have access to over 25 additional medical aesthetic legal answers. The online resource is a must-have for medical spa owners, medical directors, practice managers, and practitioners. For more information visit http://www.americanmedspa.org/page/california.
"California has some of the strictest rules in the nation when it comes to med spas," says Alex Thiersch, JD, founder and director of the American Med Spa Association. He says that California law states clearly that only nurses or above should be performing laser procedures, and that he recommends only nurses or above should be performing injections as well. "If you have an aesthetician who wants to do injectables, it's not advisable, and it can lead to a lot of problems."
