Mo-To, Vintage Wooden Toy Cars, Brings Unique Craftsmanship and One-of-a-Kind Design Quality to Kickstarter
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) May 22, 2015 -- CandyLab Toys, the company behind Mo-To, the small, vintage-inspired toy cars, chose to focus their vision of these cars on quality, functionality and aesthetics that will appeal to both children and older car enthusiasts.
“We took our love of classic cars, woodworking and mid-century nostalgia and combined it with engineering, design, manufacturing logistics, branding and some common sense retail strategy,” said creator Vlad Dragusin. “The resulting mash-up struck a chord with a bunch of people presumably fed up with piles of plastic toys, and who appreciated a clean, simple and durable wooden design object backed by a strong aesthetic.”
CandyLab Toys was first introduced on Kickstarter in 2013 and, since then, has been picked up by department stores and well-known designers such as Paul Smith and Louis Vuitton have expressed interest. Dragusin said, “The Kickstarter campaign we launched to materialize our designs went on to prove that other people also liked solid wood toy cars inspired by mid-century design and American muscle cars painted in bright colors with smooth rolling rubber tires.”
Each car was designed with extensive background research of the original car model. Even some of the additional cars released in campaign stretch goals were designed as an upgrade to original cars featured in the last campaign, much like a later car model would be redesigned and upgraded in real life. The Rare Bird #2, a sedan model released as a stretch goal and a Kickstarter exclusive, will be handmade in the U.S. to reflect CandyLab’s overall passion for true quality and design.
The campaign has exceeded its initial funding goal of $30,000 by over $70,000, and has 57 hours to go on Kickstarter. For more information about CandyLab Toys’ Kickstarter campaign and their designs, visit http://bit.ly/CandyLabToysKS or email liv(at)candylabtoys(dot)com.
