First Washington State Cannabis Product Recall Reported by Ganjapreneur.com
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) February 16, 2016 -- On Monday, February 5th 2016, Ganjapreneur.com published a breaking news story about the very first cannabis product recall in Washington State. The full article was published on their website, and detailed the story of Washington State cannabis wholesaler Evergreen Herbal's decision to voluntarily recall some of the products they had sold.
Evergreen Herbal announced the recall on Friday, Feb. 12, soon after an article published by The Stranger, a Seattle-based magazine, covered the story of how one of their suppliers, New Leaf Enterprises, was fined by the Washington State Liquor Control Board for illegal pesticide usage. Evergreen Herbal CEO Marco Hoffman explained that even though the state did not issue a mandatory recall, he believed that the responsible decision was to voluntarily recall any potentially affected products. “If only every other industry acted as we did, we would live in a completely different world right now,” Hoffman said.
Both Washington and Colorado voted to legalize marijuana for adult use in 2012. With the legislation came much regulation of the new industry by state governments, including specific requirements regarding pesticide usage. Over the past few years, Colorado has experienced several product recalls - both voluntary and mandated - related to pesticide usage. The recent recall by Evergreen Herbal is the first to occur in Washington's legal market.
