SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Foundation of Cannabis Unified Standards (FOCUS), The Cannabis Health & Safety Organization, today announced the appointment of cannabis advocate and seasoned campaign organizer Lissa Satori, as Director of Development.
Satori has been a champion for patients and quality medical cannabis since 2012. A former child protective services investigator, Satori was often confronted with the negative effects of substance abuse and failed drug policies.
Satori donated her time and leadership skills to various grassroots organizations at the beginning of her cannabis reform work. She founded the Ohio Hemp Chamber of Commerce and the first Ohio Women Grow chapter in 2015. After the deeply divisive 2015 Ohio legalization initiative, Satori founded United Ohio, a premier cannabis patient organization formed to unify and inform Ohio's stakeholders.
In 2016, Satori served as campaign coordinator for Ohioans for Medical Marijuana, the catalyst for the legalization of medical cannabis under Ohio House Bill 523. She later joined the Marijuana Policy Project's Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol in Michigan as director of outreach; securing a victory for statewide cannabis policy reform with the passage of Prop 1 in 2018.
"We are thrilled to have Lissa join the FOCUS team. In addition to her extensive experience around cannabis policy, Lissa's shared passion for health and safety makes her the perfect fit to support the continued growth of our organization around the world," stated Lezli Engelking, Founder and CEO of FOCUS.
Established in 2014, FOCUS is an Arizona-based non-profit that protects public health and consumer safety through the development and implementation of international, cannabis specific, Good Manufacturing Practices. FOCUS has provided guidance on global cannabis policy at the World Health Organization, the United Nations, and to policy makers on both a national and international level.
"FOCUS shares my original mission for quality health and safety," Satori commented. "The fact that I am participating in shaping and regulating this evolving industry while still staying true to my values is exciting for me."
