Behavioral health experts share their perspectives on the current state of integrated care and its prospects for the future
NEW YORK, July 28, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On July 20th, Cantata Health Solutions President and CEO, Alan Tillinghast, participated as a panelist in a webinar titled "Working Beyond the Sectors to Achieve Integrated Care."
The HIMSS New York State Chapter hosted the event to discuss how behavioral health and physical health can work together to achieve true whole-person care.
The 90-minute conversation featured expert panelists from the public and private sectors who shared their perspectives and experiences with integrating care and what is happening on the ground. Panelist Dr. Jorge R Petit, CEO at Services for the UnderServed, said, "for me, integration is about breaking down the silos and the fragmentation that currently exists in our system, and to really think about how we create an integrated delivery service continuum that really meets the needs of individuals where they are at."
Alan Tillinghast shared Cantata's experience of working collaboratively with behavioral health and acute care providers to address the challenges of providing coordinated, patient-centered care.
"When you look at the integration of primary care, it's critically important, especially in highly regulated states like Ohio, New York, and California, where program licensing models result in silos of care," said Tillinghast. "When somebody receives services at an Opioid Treatment Program, a mental health clinic, and primary care agency, these organizations must be talking to each other to deliver on the promise of whole patient care."
