Canvas Creations will exhibit Vycom's Seaboard fabricated into dodger and bimini hardtops for multiple types of boats at the U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Maryland. The durable hardtops can be custom fabricated for existing boat frames and are highly resistant to UV rays, weather, dirt and bird droppings.

Canvas Creations outfitted this Catalina Morgan 38 ft. cruiser with a Seaboard dodger and bimini.

“The advantages of Seaboard HDPE hardtops are UV resistance, durability and easy cleaning," said Dan Wood, owner of Canvas Creations.

Canvas Creations will exhibit boat hardtops made with Vycom’s Seaboard (TM) material at the Annual w U.S. Sailboat Show, Oct. 9 - 13, 2014, Tent D54. Canvas Creations will exhibit mini models of the Seaboard hardtops, a solution for retrofitting sailboats, trawlers, cruisers, and center console boats with an upgrade that performs far beyond fiberglass or canvas tops. Manufactured by Vycom, Seaboard HDPE is low-maintenance, long lasting, and has great impact and stiffness for hardtops.

“The advantages of these HDPE hardtops are UV resistance, durability and easy cleaning," said Dan Wood, owner of Canvas Creations. “The tops are formed solid panels that are welded together, so there are no zippers, threads, or other metal fasteners that can rust and be tough to deal with on enclosures," says Wood. At the booth, fabrication partner Bill Creadon, Plastic Supply, Pottstown, PA, will be on hand to talk about how the hardtops can be custom fabricated to the existing boat frames. “That is so important because it doesn’t disrupt the aesthetic design of the boat,” says Creadon.

According to Creadon, the surface finish does not allow dirt, pollen, mildew or bird droppings to stain or attach to the surface. “We find Seaboard HDPE to be impervious to the elements whether it’s rain, snow, or ice,” he said.

Seaboard HDPE is available in a variety of colors that are resistant to sunlight and moisture, including Mercury Gray, Sandshade, Polar White, and Seafoam. “We chose these colors for their soft appeal and low heat generation, providing a cooler environment within the boat,” said Creadon.

The boat tops are very easy to assemble and install with a design that accommodates stainless steel and aluminum frames with reduced expansion and contraction between the metal and plastic. As added features, Canvas Creations also has curtains, covers, solar panels, and LED lights built into the tops.
