Anaheim, CA (PRWEB) December 22, 2013

Commenting on a news report about a recent fatal car crash in San Clemente, Anaheim drunk driving accident lawyer Daniel C. Carlton said any serious car wreck should serve as reminder to all drivers of their responsibility to obey the rules of the road and operate safely.

CBS Los Angeles (“Alcohol, Speed Reportedly Factors In OC Crash That Killed 4,” December 7) reported that police investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the high-speed single-vehicle collision that claimed the lives of all four passengers inside.

“The dangers of drinking and driving are well-documented in Southern California, but many people still get behind the wheel while impaired. Drunk drivers can make extremely dangerous decisions, such as driving recklessly, ignoring traffic signals and speeding. When these factors come together, the consequences can be deadly,” said Carlton.

According to CBS Los Angeles, the early December car crash occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. after a speeding BMW carrying four passengers collided with a light pole and then a palm tree, splitting the vehicle in half and ejecting accident victims from the vehicle.

While CBS Los Angeles said that the accident is under investigation, preliminary findings by law enforcement officials have indicated that both speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in the accident.

“It’s the responsibility of all drivers to exercise good judgment and extreme caution after consuming alcohol, including the decision to step behind the wheel of a vehicle. If you have been out drinking and need to get home, our firm recommends designating a sober driver, using public transportation services, or calling a friend or family member to pick you up,” said Carlton, a drunk driving accident attorney in Anaheim.

Carlton said anyone injured by a drunk driver or who loses a loved one in an accident should get advice from a personal injury attorney. A lawyer can help victims and families pursue compensation for their losses and send a message that negligence won’t be tolerated on California roads.
