Carlisle SynTec Systems Sponsors GreenZone Legacy Project at GreenBuild 2014
Carlisle, PA (PRWEB) October 24, 2014 -- Carlisle SynTec Systems is proud to announce its sponsorship of the new Lower Ninth Water Education Center/Community Center. Carlisle donated all the materials for the facility’s environmentally friendly roofing system, including highly reflective Sure-Flex™ KEE HP PVC membrane and polyiso insulation. Prior to moving to its permanent home in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward, the modular building will be displayed at the GreenZone exhibit during GreenBuild 2014 in New Orleans, La., October 21-23, 2014.
Building Design+Construction (BD&C) magazine launched the GreenZone initiative in 2011 to highlight examples of high-performance, sustainable structures and the products used in their construction. This year, BD&C is partnering with material manufacturers and the Lower Ninth Ward Center for Sustainable Engagement and Development (CSED) to construct a modular classroom, lab, and community center. The building targets net-zero energy use through the use of sustainable materials and practices and will serve as both a community center and classroom for teaching K-12 students about water quality and conservation.
Juneau Odenwald Roofing Inc., a Louisiana roofing contractor, donated the labor to install the roofing system. Founded in 1996, Juneau Odenwald Roofing provides a wide variety of commercial roofing services throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
Mike DuCharme, Carlisle SynTec Systems’ Director of Product Marketing, states, “As a leader in the roofing industry for more than 50 years, Carlisle recognizes the need to develop and manufacture environmentally responsible products and systems. This is a great project and we are happy that we could partner with a local roofing company in New Orleans to give back to the community.”
Sure-Flex KEE HP PVC membranes contain a solid KEE HP (high-performance) plasticizer. The manufacture of Sure-Flex KEE HP PVC has low embodied energy, and the membrane features improved aesthetics, a wider window of weldability, and superior cold temperature flexibility. When compared to standard PVC membranes, KEE HP PVC boasts enhanced thermal performance and increased resistance to chemicals, microbial growth, and dirt pickup. In a properly designed roofing system with the correct levels of polyiso insulation and accurately installed edge metal, Sure-Flex KEE HP PVC roofs are a reliable and sustainable roofing option.
