The Next Generation System is an excellent fit for the exploding IoT portion of the 5G market
EUREKA, Calif. (PRWEB) April 01, 2019
Carlson Wireless Inc., a leader in White Space radio systems, today announced the CE mark approval of their Next Generation TV White Space Band Digital Radio System.
The system is designed to fulfill “broadband to the home” needs in areas where foliage and terrain are challenging for microwave. The Next Generation System is an excellent fit for the exploding IoT portion of the 5G market supporting smart cities, asset tracking, plant automation, security and augmenting Wi-Fi indoors where microwave is saturated, or range limited. This product represents the first commercial use of 802.11af which is a variant of Wi-fi’s 802.11ac bringing interoperability using the common set of Wi-Fi commands the industry is already familiar with.
The Next Generation Carlson System uses geo-location sensors to protect interference to TV broadcasters through a regulatory approved database. The system has been successfully trialed in Africa, United Kingdom, North America and South Asia. Field testing has shown TCP\IP download speeds as high as 40 Mbps with two non-contiguous TV channels and 25 Mbps with a single TV channel. The system also supports multiple routing configurations such as NAT or bridged network and tagged VPN’s.
Today, Carlson is considered a pioneer of the revolutionary new TV White Space broadband technology. Using the Carlson RuralConnect TV White Space radios, government, commercial, and educational entities around the world have taken steps to prove many use cases for this new technology. Trials have shown this product can be used to provide critical services to underserved remote areas where no other technology meets the criteria. Over the Internet, these rural areas now have available social, business, medical, and educational services used to bring them into the modern world. A step beyond all previous technologies, TV White Space truly bridges the digital divide.
In 2013, Carlson Wireless partnered with Google®, regulatory authorities, and network professionals to conduct a series of highly successful trials connecting schools in Cape Town, South Africa, with broadband Internet over TV White Space. These trials have played a pivotal role in demonstrating to both regulators and potential users the ability of TVWS technology to provide high-speed data across rugged terrain. In 2015 Carlson Wireless Technologies was selected by the White House office of Science and Technology Policy to join the Platforms Enabling Advanced Wireless Research program, by contributing American equipment, technology, and expertise in TV white spaces and dynamic spectrum sharing.
