Fidelity Tested in New Novel from Carolyn Spindler Kahn
Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) August 19, 2014 -- The new book, “The Fidelity Test” (published by WestBow Press) by Carolyn Spindler Kahn describes a wife’s test for her husband’s faithfulness that goes terribly wrong, landing him in a mental institution.
Brian Wilkins is a successful insurance salesman, but his ever-changing work hours leave his wife feeling unfulfilled, disrespected and afraid that he is having an affair. She devises a test of his faith that involves Brian’s secretary, Denise. When Denise dies in the midst of the test – in Brian’s office shower – Brian decides the incriminating circumstances of her death would be too much for his reputation to bear and he becomes a man on the run.
One bad decision leads to another. After “sinking” Denise in a body of water, Brian steals the identity of a dead man, allowing him to successfully evade the law until a private investigator figures everything out. After Brian serves time in prison and a mental institution, he tries to pull himself together again, only to find he has no reputation to preserve; no career, no family and no purpose to his life – the very values he attempted to preserve in the past are now nonexistent.
“I have embedded a message within accidental happenings, expounding on Brian’s first bad decision to cover up the death,” Kahn says. “If he had swallowed his pride and done the right thing, something else would have happened. His vulnerability was his own flawed self; he was blindfolded to his own faults by design.”
