Transformative Wave’s Announces the CATALYST Is a Winning Formula for Participants in the Advanced Rooftop Campaign
Kent, WA (PRWEB) July 29, 2015 -- Transformative Wave, developer of the CATALYST RTU retrofit technology, is proud to announce that CATALYST projects resulted in two notable awards as a part of the Advanced Rooftop Campaign. The Advanced Rooftop Campaign is a collaboration between ASHRAE, Retail Industry Leaders Association, and the Department of Energy’s Better Building Alliance which encourages building owners and operators to take advantage of energy saving opportunities from high efficiency rooftop units and the application of “advanced rooftop controls”. The Advanced Rooftop Campaign steering committee announced the following award recipients on May 27, 2015 in Washington, DC.
Whole Foods Market – Whole Foods Market received the Advanced Rooftop Campaign Achievement Award for Highest Number of Advanced RTU Control Retrofits by a Commercial Organization. Whole Foods has retrofitted 784 RTU’s with the CATALYST or CATALYST Lite solutions to date. The CATALYST retrofits are projected to save Whole Foods as an estimated 9,413,500 (kWh) annual energy savings, which equates to a savings of $1,024,000.00 in electricity costs. This represents only a portion of Whole Foods’ facilities that will receive the upgrades with more installations of the CATALYST to come in 2015.
Mike Ellinger, Whole Foods Market, Global Maintenance & Refrigeration Coordinator, comments; “The significant energy savings and quality installation process are just two of the reasons we selected CATALYST and Transformative Wave as our partner for RTU retrofits across the United States and Canada.”
NAVFAC/NREL: Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific, in partnership with NAVFAC Hawaii and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), was awarded the Advanced Rooftop Unit Campaign Achievement Award for energy improvements to facilities on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH). The base was recognized for the Highest Number of Advanced RTU control retrofits by a Government Organization. The historic military base has the CATALYST with eIQ retrofit applied to 30 rooftop units, with an estimated savings of 272,000 kilowatt-hours per year, worth $116,000 annually. Dr. Michael Deru, Engineering Manager, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, comments; “The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is very satisfied with Transformative Wave's CATALYST and eIQ systems based on field demonstrations for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH). CATALYST's multi-speed fan operation, demand controlled ventilation and peak demand shaving capabilities exceeded expectations. NREL sees it is a mature, reliable retrofit technology combining energy efficiency and automated demand response for the small to medium size retail market. NREL continues to partner with Transformative Wave through the Advanced RTU Campaign.”
Danny Miller, President of Transformative Wave, comments; “We congratulate these two valued customers for their role as early adopters of our technology and the recognition that these awards represent. As an original supporter of the Advanced Rooftop Campaign, Transformative Wave is grateful to the DOE, ASHRAE, and RILA for including RTU retrofits as a viable alternative to equipment replacement. Whole Foods and Joint Base Pearl Harbor/Hickam are well deserving of these awards and it has been a privilege to work with them on these projects. We would also like to thank the committed folks at NREL and the PNNL for laying the groundwork with their respective field trials of the CATALYST and eIQ Platform.”
Transformative Wave’s CATALYST remains the only RTU energy saving retrofit technology to be proven by the DOE and this study is the basis of the Advance Rooftop Campaign’s retrofit support. The CATALYST has received numerous awards and recommendations from notable sources such as E Source, Association of Energy Services Professional (AESP), Department of Defense and more.
