HAP Innovations, Catalyst Healthcare Introduce spencer™ in Canada
MORRISVILLE, NC (PRWEB) September 11, 2017 -- HAP Innovations and Catalyst Healthcare have announced a premier partnership for the distribution of the spencer™ clinically-managed medication dispenser and home health hub in Canada. Already available in 32 states across the U.S., spencer is rapidly growing its reach and this is the first time the technology will be available to Canadian patients, pharmacies, and assisted/independent-living care facilities.
"We are very excited to enter the Canadian market with Catalyst,” said Tom Rhoads, HAP Innovations CEO. “The initial uptake of spencer across Catalyst's network of high-performing pharmacies has been unbelievable, and their central fill model addresses our goal of deploying spencer at scale, ultimately helping people to lead more enjoyable lives.”
The spencer digital platform includes a countertop in-home medication dispensing and engagement device, the spencerAssist™ mobile app to connect family caregivers, and the spencerCare™ clinical site for pharmacists and care providers. Spencer is now fully integrated with Catalyst’s AdhereNet™ pharmacy platform to ensure medication is packaged with 100% accuracy, and also incorporates biometric data with patient-reported insights to ensure optimum health and safety. With this actionable and insightful information, patients, their pharmacist, and care teams can catch emerging problems and proactively manage care.
spencer reminds individuals to take their medications, and while dispensing, solicits patient information about any new or changing health symptoms, medication problems and overall mood. Patient use of spencer to respond to questions or to seek support from their healthcare community is averaging greater than 60%, and ranging as high as 80%. With a patient-centered approach, spencer will help Canadians receive improved at-home care which is adapted to their lifestyle and needs – enabling greater independence and dignity, while helping reduce cost burdens to the healthcare system.
“The ability to make lasting change to the health outcomes of patients and to increase the ROI on healthcare dollars is directly in the hands of pharmacists – but they need advanced adherence tools to do so,” said Shane Bishop, CEO, Catalyst Healthcare Ltd. “We expect that spencer’s unique brand of personalization, and the way it makes people feel to take their medications, will resonate with patients, improve medication management and adherence, and keep more patients from experiencing re-admission to hospital.”
With offices in Canada and the United States, Catalyst’s network of chain and independent pharmacy customers serve 80% of the Canadian long-term care (LTC) and home-care market. By embedding high-quality, cloud-based software into the pharmacy value chain, Catalyst’s medication adherence model provides the scale required to address the cost of not taking medications as prescribed, bringing the medication delivery ecosystem full-circle.
The first Catalyst spencer units will go live in September, with the company quickly scaling to meet national demand.
