Catalyst IT Services will be a Silver Sponsor of the 2014 Gartner Sourcing & Strategic Vendor Relationships Summit. The Catalyst team will be on hand in Booth #407 to discuss the firm’s unique approach to assembling and sourcing application development teams that results in 75 percent faster delivery and 55 percent lower defect rates at one-third the cost as compared to other outsourced vendors.

Also at the summit, Catalyst IT Services’ client Starwood Hotels and Resorts will present the session, It takes a Village to be Agile: Embedding New Practices at Starwood Hotels. Cheryl Railey, Starwood Hotels vice president, process and project management, will host the session. Railey will discuss Starwood’s adoption of new approaches to development that are changing the way the company partners with vendors and delivers software.

The hotel industry’s push for personalized guest experience has transformed corporate thinking on an enterprise level. In the session, Railey will explore how Starwood became faster, more agile and more innovative. Starwood has implemented several transformation initiatives, including working with Catalyst IT Services for agile training, coaching and software delivery.

Starwood is integrating Agile practices into software delivery while trying to preserve existing gating/testing/release practices. These agile practices have also changed team vendor models and relationships, supported blended teams and changed the business/IT partnership at the executive and project level.

“New technologies, especially the widespread adoption of mobile, have changed the ways in which the hospitality industry interacts with guests,” said Michael Rosenbaum, CEO of Catalyst IT Services. “Starwood is out in front of these disruptions by promoting agility throughout its entire enterprise. The adoption of rapidly iterative development, tied to the ability to deliver teams and functionality quickly and adapt a partnering model to support these changes, allows Starwood to offer greater personalization in less time. Cheryl’s session will highlight the tangible benefits of an enterprise working to innovate and differentiate itself.”

The Gartner Sourcing & Strategic Vendor Relationships Summit provides attendees with practical guidance and strategic advice on sourcing and IT services with a number of analyst sessions, case studies, problem-solving workshops and peer interactions. The summit will run September 10-12 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
