PHOENIX, Oct. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- CEA Study Abroad recently announced their newest program destination: Colombia. As one of the first U.S. international education providers to venture into this one-of-a-kind country, CEA looks forward to helping students discover everything Colombia has to offer, while giving them access to a high-quality education at the Universidad de La Sabana. Students will attend courses taught in English by La Sabana's predominantly Colombian faculty, learning alongside Colombian students.
"I am excited for CEA to expand its portfolio into a non-traditional study abroad destination. It enhances the study abroad landscape and opens up more opportunities for students," said Caroline Walsh, Senior Vice President of Program Development. "I'm particularly proud to have partnered with the Universidad da la Sabana. I'm confident students will feel at home on their campus, challenged by the academic rigor of the institution, and integrated into student life."
CEA's thorough, on-the-ground research of Bogotá, Colombia, and Universidad de La Sabana clinched the decision to create new study abroad programming there, allowing U.S. students to experience one of the richest Latin American cultures while furthering their education. Factors contributing to CEA's decision include:
- According to the U.S. State Department, 21st century Colombia is equally as safe as the most popular European study abroad destinations, including Spain, France, the U.K., and Germany.
- Situated just north of Bogotá city limits, Universidad de La Sabana features a beautiful, green campus resembling that of U.S. liberal arts colleges, and modern facilities, including several specialized laboratories for STEM, finance, journalism, and media studies students.
Colombia is a country full of untapped study abroad potential, and CEA hopes to provide the kind of programming there that allows more U.S. students to experience it. U.S. universities and students have already expressed a growing interest in Colombia as a study abroad destination, and CEA has exuberantly stepped up to the plate to meet their needs. Ms. Walsh summed up her team's approach perfectly: "Our goal at CEA is to develop unique, high quality academic opportunities around the globe. We are excited that Colombia is the first of many new locations that we will be launching."
