Celebrity Homes: Jeff Bridges' Montecito Estate Is For Sale
Pompano Beach, Florida (PRWEB) July 22, 2015 -- Jeff Bridges' California home is for sale at $29.5 million and featured this week at TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.
“Jeff Bridges' Montecito Estate”
Practically an institution in Hollywood, the Bridges family has lived in Montecito, California since Lloyd Bridges starred in “Sea Hunt” from 1958 through 1960. It was in this series where Jeff and his brother, Beau, began their careers as actors, though Jeff had appeared in film scenes before the age of two as early as 1951. Now at age 65 and currently filming “Comancheria” to be released in 2016, Jeff’s filmography is one of Hollywood’s longest. He has been nominated for Academy Awards for his roles in “The Last Picture Show,” “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot,” “Starman,” “The Contender” and “True Grit,” but it took 39 years to finally win his first Oscar for “Crazy Love” at the age of 60. But Bridges isn’t just an actor; he’s multi-talented and had a hard time deciding between being Jeff Bridges, musician or Jeff Bridges, actor. He has cut three albums, “Be Here Soon,” “Jeff Bridges” and “Sleeping Tapes.” He is also an author and photographer and published a book of his photography, “Pictures: Photographs by Jeff Bridges.”
Jeff and his wife of 33 years, Susan, are now selling their 19.5-acre Tuscan-style estate in Montecito where they raised their three daughters. It is a home where everyone could be together but have the space to enjoy individual interests. Jeff practiced his passion for raising aloe plants, has his recording studio and a little niche in a corner of the yard where he occasionally makes pottery. Sue has a greenhouse filled with orchids and has created beautiful venues for entertaining throughout the property.
Purchased in 1994 from Kenny Loggins who designed much of the home, the almost 20-acre hilltop property consists of the main house, a caretaker’s cottage, a detached auxiliary garage, a pool house and guest house. With 9,593 square feet of living space, the main house has five bedrooms, six baths, large formal rooms for entertaining opening along the grand hall with every room having banks of French doors opening to ocean and garden views and multiple terraces. There are private family areas also opening to terraces on the main level, a large theatre, an attached four-car garage and a wine cellar below ground. The second level contains five bedrooms on wings jutting out from the main structure adding much privacy for the occupants. The master suite is its own private island with bedroom fireplace, huge master bath and a walk-in closet of over 200 square feet. Outside are terraced destinations for dining, swimming next to a waterfall, lawn games, a vineyard, olive trees and views over the Pacific and the Channel Islands.
Jeff and Sue Bridges’ 19.5 acre estate in the hills of Montecito, California, their home of two decades, is now for sale. Priced at $29.5 million. The listing agent is Suzanne Perkins of Sotheby's International Realty in Santa Barbara, California.
