Child Family Health International Debuts Intensive Two-week Global Health Programs
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 13, 2014 -- The goal is ambitious: to enable driven medical, nursing, pre-health students and early career professionals an opportunity to be in the trenches of global health in communities around the world.
Enter Child Family Health International (CFHI), a nonprofit that pairs students with healthcare experts abroad to promote a global perspective on health while empowering underserved communities around the world.
This mission has guided CFHI, a United Nations recognized nonprofit, since 1992. Beginning in December, CFHI will expand its educational offerings as it debuts Global Health Intensive Programs - 2-week survey experiences promising concentrated international exposure for those with limited time to go abroad. Programs will provide intensive cross-cultural experience and insight into healthcare delivery systems in resource-poor settings. For over 2 decades, CFHI has provided transformative global health experiences for students and supports healthcare initiatives in communities in Africa, Latin America and Asia.
“Students or young professionals dedicated to health and serving communities in need don’t always have four weeks to travel abroad to learn about global health,” said CFHI Executive Director Jessica Evert, MD. “Our 2-week Global Health Intensive Programs leverage CFHI’s expertise and strong network of community-based mentors to execute experiences that lay the foundation for careers in global health or expand horizons for those pursuing globally informed endeavors. Our newest programs, starting in December and January, guarantee more people access to learning from highly qualified local experts in global health. We believe opportunities of this caliber are rare. Our goal is to shape future health professionals with skills that address a wide spectrum of needs for an increasingly diverse population locally and around the world.”
CFHI will continue to offer its popular four- and eight-week programs in global health care.
