After dealing with a traumatic depression, explains Story, I personally realized that people dismiss this subject. Depression needs to be dealt with and talked about.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately 14.8 million adults suffer from a depressive disorder in the United States. Cheryl Story was one of those people. Her new book, “The Ghost Next Door: How I Survived a Traumatic Depression and Came Out the Other Side!” (published by Balboa Press), accurately shows readers what it is like to live with depression and provides encouragement and hope for those currently dealing with it.
“After dealing with a traumatic depression,” explains Story, “I personally realized that people dismiss this subject. Depression needs to be dealt with and talked about.”
For Story, depression was the result of several events and terrible circumstances that left her feeling alone and unhappy. She felt empty, as though she was no longer herself, but Story was not going to let depression get the better of her. By facing her problem and seeking out help, she realized how many people cared for her and the inner strength she never knew she possessed.
Story personally describes the book as, “a very personal and telling account of what depression does to one’s life.”
