Chesterfield School District sees the State’s Largest Increase in School Funding
CHESTERFIELD, N.J. (PRWEB) August 01, 2018 -- After months of hard-pressed negotiations, New Jersey’s final public school funding numbers are in. The Chesterfield School District in Burlington County will see the largest percentage increase in the state, from $821,188 to $2.4 million (192.7 percent) for the 2018-2019 school year (almost double from the previous year), according to a recent article in the Burlington County Times. The plan includes spending over $1 million on staff, curriculum and instruction, with about $500,000 going towards building and grounds.
The residents at Traditions at Chesterfield, an award-winning Smart Growth community, will reap the benefits of the new school funding plan as the district has been the most underfunded in recent years. “A stronger, fairer New Jersey means making sure that New Jersey Schools are receiving the funds they need to advance academic excellence for our students,” said Governor Phil Murphy in a statement. “After years of neglect, we are turning the page to bring a balanced approach to school aid by removing the growth cap on funding increases and finally beginning the process of fully implementing the state’s school funding formula established in 2008.”
The Chesterfield School District is home to Chesterfield Elementary School, which is in walking distance to Traditions at Chesterfield, and serves students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grades. The school boasts a 7/10 GreatSchools.org rating, an above average rating compared to other schools in the state. It also rated at 8/10 in test scores and 8/10 in student progress.
