This fall, legislation was passed to offer free part-day preschool slots for qualifying parents throughout the state of California. Child Development Inc. was among one of the programs to receive the award. "We are trying to get the word out to those parents that need the financial assistance and qualify that our part-day preschool slots are free again. For the last three years, our part day slots required fees and it was tough on a lot of our parents, with many having to take their children out of preschool," said Fritzi Gragg, Program Director. "It is so important that we give our children all of the opportunities for quality preschool experiences that we can and with over 500 slots now available for free or a reduced fee, we welcome parents to please apply."
Families may qualify based on family size and income. There are a certain amount of free slots available for part-day preschool, as well as discounted slots with flat rates for full-day preschool. The flat rates are based on whether the child attends 130 hours/month or over 130 hours/month. The centers run year round, and families can enroll at any time, as long as there are openings. Registration takes place on-site for all children. To find a location or to apply for the free program, please use their location finder tool at http://www.cdicdc.org/locations/.
