San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 11, 2013 -- The Car Repair Services industry in China has been growing 12.2% annually over the past five years to about $7.3 billion in 2013. Industry growth has been the result of the surging number of registered vehicles, despite this reducing the average car age and number of miles driven, says IBISWorld.
Car repair service firms are classified into three categories. Primary enterprises are repair facilities that provide overhauling or assembly repair services for automobiles. These can also provide general maintenance and specialized repair services and must have equipment to test on completion. Established by auto manufacturers and dealer groups, 4S stores (i.e. sales, spare parts, service and survey) belong to this category.
Secondary units provide the same services as primary enterprises, but tend to be smaller and do not necessarily have equipment to test on completion. Tertiary units provide specialized repair and maintenance services such as car detailing, replacing tires and automobile paintwork. This industry mainly refers to primary enterprises, and excludes secondary and tertiary units.
In 2013, the combined market share of the top four Car Repair Services industry companies – Xianglong Borui Auto Services (Group), Sanhe Group, Changzhou Tourism Automobile Group, and Nanchong Kunhe Automobile Trading – is estimated at about 13.2% of industry revenue, says IBISWorld. Industry concentration has increased over the past five years, reflecting the expansion of large players through more 4S stores and chain operations.
