Buckeyes Tickets for Entire 2014 College Football Season Announced Available at Choice 1 Tickets
Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) April 02, 2014 -- After coming tantalizingly close to playing for the national title in 2013, Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes hope that 2014 is the year they take the final step.
Ohio State opened last season with a perfect 12-0 record, stretching the Buckeyes’ winning streak to 24 straight games. However, losses to Michigan State in the Big Ten Championship Game and Clemson in the Orange Bowl put a damper on Meyer’s second season in Columbus.
Despite the setback, Meyer returns a team that has a chance to do what last year’s version could not: win the conference title and earn a spot in the national championship game.
“Urban Meyer has clearly reestablished Ohio State as the premier football program in the Big Ten, capable of competing for the conference title on a yearly basis,” said Choice 1 Tickets marketing manager Brent Larsen. “The demand for Ohio State Buckeyes tickets this year reflects the trust that fans have in Meyer to continue putting an elite team on the field.”
Fans with Buckeyes tickets received a huge boost this offseason when QB Braxton Miller announced that he would be returning for his senior season. Already one of the most decorated players in the history of the conference, Miller has a chance to go down as perhaps the best quarterback in the history of Ohio State football.
“Braxton Miller is one of just four players in the history of the Big Ten to win the Silver Football award, one of the most prestigious awards in the conference,” Larsen said. “Miller may not have the championships under his belt like other Buckeyes quarterbacks, but his production at the position is really eye-opening.”
If Miller improves as a passer and manages to stay healthy, the Buckeyes could be extremely difficult to stop. With the return of RBs Elliott Ezekiel and Dontre Wilson, WR Devin Smith and TE Jeff Heuerman, Ohio State should be one of the most explosive offenses in the country.
Meyer is also taking a more active role on the defensive side of the ball, which loses several key playmakers in All-American LB Ryan Shazier and all-conference CB Bradley Roby. Replacing Shazier in particular will not be easy, but Meyer did bring in five-star LB recruit Raekwon McMillan to help fill the void.
Fortunately, the defensive line returns intact, with Noah Spence and Joey Bosa forming perhaps the best tandem of defensive ends in the nation. Spence and Bosa combined for 15.5 sacks in 2013, and should harass opposing quarterbacks all season long.
At Ohio State, the measure of success comes in the form of Rose Bowl berths and national titles, not regular season winning streaks, so Meyer still has work to do in Columbus. However, his work over his first two seasons is very impressive, and fans with Buckeyes tickets should expect a great product on the field for years to come.
