Crowd It Forward Creates Fund to Buy a Riding Mower for "Memorial Militia" National Mall Mower Chris Cox
Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 11, 2013 -- http://www.CrowdItForward.com, a crowdfunding website owned and operated by the ClickStartMe Foundation, Inc. has created a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for Chris Cox, the one-man "Memorial Militia" who selflessly mowed, cleaned and beautified the National Mall and Lincoln Memorial for the pending Million Vet March. Tax-deductible donations to the fund may be made at https://www.crowditforward.com/projects/the-memorial-militia.
Crowdfunding expert Kendall Almerico, founder of Crowd It Forward said Chris Cox inspired his team, and has also inspired the nation. "Chris Cox embodies the American spirit. He saw a need to help veterans, he saw the government shutdown, and he did something about it," Almerico said. "Most people just sit around and do nothing. Chris Cox got out his mower and his tools, and went to work."
Almerico says that Crowd It Forward has created a crowdfunding project that makes it easy for anyone to make a tax deductible donation to help purchase a new riding mower for Cox. After funding the mower, all donations will go to The Green Beret Foundation which provides assistance wounded special operations veterans, or to a charity that Cox himself might choose. "Chris Cox is the rare kind of person who does selfless things and would never ask for anything in return," Almerico says. "But if Mr. Cox has a favorite charity, we will be happy to support them also."
Crowd It Forward's "Random Act of Crowdfunding" for Chris Cox has already been featured in USA Today, on Canada's national Canadian Broadcast Company news, and hundreds of blogs and social media sites. Within just a few hours of launching, the fund has already reached 30% of its goal.
Almerico notes that Crowd It Forward is operated by the ClickStartMe Foundation, a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, which oversees distribution of the charitable funds that are raised through the crowdfunding site. Almerico notes that unlike many charities who have huge overhead expenses and keep a large percentage of donations to operate, Crowd It Forward guarantees that at least 90% of every dollar donated will be distributed directly to the recipients of its "Random Acts of Crowdfunding" funds. "I have worked and represented charities and non-profits for years in my law practice, and I would not have started Crowd It Forward unless I could assure donors that their generous donations would get into the hands of those in need."
