Cigar Advisor Publishes Fictional Story About Cigars, Murder, and Betrayal
Easton, PA (PRWEB) November 06, 2013 -- The all-new Cigar Advisor is an online cigar magazine that brings a fresh, irreverent, and down-to-earth perspective on all things cigars to thousands of smokers. In addition to educational cigar content and behind-the-scenes cigar industry articles from some of the business’s top names, Cigar Advisor delivers an array of content about a variety of topics of interest to people who enjoy the cigar lifestyle. The magazine also features cigar reviews and ratings submitted by real smokers.
Cigar Advisor Magazine has published The Slow and Graceful Death of the Tobacco Leaf Part I, a new story by Mark McGinty, author of The Cigar Maker. In this spin-off, which takes place in 1901 Cuba, McGinty places the spotlight on Paolo Renteria, a tobacco grower who discovers that his brother and business partner, Armando, has been murdered during a violent tobacco workers strike in Ybor City. To make matters worse, their most profitable factory, the Vasquez Cigar factory in Tampa, has been burned to embers. Paolo must go to Tampa to retrieve his brother's body, at which time he begins his own investigation of the murder.
During the investigation, Paolo learns that Armando was secretly selling off his shares in a number of other factories.
"Why would he do that?” Paolo wondered. There was definitely a good reason why his brother was walking away from the business, and Paolo suspected it had something to do with his murder and that strike that preceded it," writes McGinty.
As Paolo continues to rummage through his brother's effects, he begins putting the pieces of the puzzle together, and soon figures out what may have motivated Armando to sell-off his shares. Paolo then takes it upon himself to dig deeper into the mystery and discovers that Armando was involved with a very powerful tobacco syndicate set on supplanting Spain’s ownership of Cuba.
The story ends with a cliff-hanger that sets readers up to anticipate the release of the second part of the story, coming in the December issue of Cigar Advisor. McGinty's fiction piece entitled "The Heist" is one of the best received articles ever published in the magazine, and the Cigar Advisor staff expects a similar reaction to this story.
