Cigar Advisor Publishes Top 5 Must-Read Books for Men List
Easton, PA (PRWEB) September 18, 2013 -- The all-new Cigar Advisor Magazine is an online cigar magazine that brings a fresh, irreverent, and down-to-earth perspective on all things cigars to thousands of smokers. In addition to educational cigar content and behind-the-scenes cigar industry articles from some of the business’s top names, Cigar Advisor delivers an array of content about a variety of topics of interest to people who enjoy the cigar lifestyle. The magazine also features cigar reviews and ratings submitted by real smokers. Cigar Advisor has just published a new supplemental article to their Lifestyle section, titled “5 Must-Read Books for Men.”
Written by Cigar Advisor Executive Editor Lou Tenney, “5 Must-Read Books for Men” is his guide to reading or revisiting five timeless classics; the list includes two offerings in self-improvement, one in strategy, and two fictional pieces. "As an English major and former sales guy,” says Lou, “I read all of these at one point or another, and found that each offered its own unique brand of insight into life on planet Earth."
The list kicks off with Dale Carnegie's classic "How to Win Friends and Influence People," a groundbreaking work when first published in 1936. From there, Tenney cites Zig Ziglar's "See You at the Top" and Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" as manly must-reads.
"These books aren't the pulpy, garden-variety, touch-feely self-help books that have come to dominate the genre. Instead, they're tried and true treatises on improving yourself – a goal every man hopes to attain," Tenney said.
Kerouac's "On the Road" and Hemingway's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" round out the list.
"These seminal works of fiction are firmly grounded in real life, each from a completely different perspective. Even if you can't identify with the characters personally, you'll almost certainly identify with their struggle for the meaning of existence," Tenney says.
