City Bike Designer Linus Bike Commends Loan Company for Adopting a Bike-Share Program for Its Employees
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) July 27, 2013 -- On July 27, city bike designer Linus Bike commends online home lender, Quicken Loans, Inc., for becoming the first business in Detroit to adopt a formal bike-share program for its employees.
According to a July 24, 2013 Detroit News article, entitled, “Zagster bike-sharing program launched in downtown Detroit,” Detroit-based Rock Ventures LLC and its flagship company, online home lender Quicken Loans, Inc., became the first businesses in Detroit to adopt a formal bike-share program, offering 48 bicycles to 9,200 employees. The bike-share program is a partnered venture with Cambridge, Mass.-based Zagster.
The bicycles will be available free on demand, stationed at eight different locations around the central business district. Depending on the demand, additional locations and bikes may be added.
Jay Farner, president and chief marketing officer of Quicken Loans, elaborates on the company’s choice of adopting a bike-share program in a statement released Wednesday: “The launch of Zagster in Detroit is another way we are activating our streets and helping our team members explore Detroit – on two wheels versus four,” he says. “Bike sharing fits in with our place making initiatives; we hope other downtown companies will follow our lead and consider bringing this perk to their team members.”
Jason Latty, a representative from Linus Bike, a city bike designer, commends the businesses for their proactive approach to getting their employees on bicycles. “This business-exclusive bike-share program is a trend that we hope to see grow. It gives employees the option of commuting to work by bike. Fact of the matter is, the more people biking in a city, the better it is for everyone. Our hope is that other companies will look at this as a positive and follow suit.”
