City Bike Designer Linus Bike Commends Cyclist for Biking 3,100 Miles for Charity
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) July 10, 2013 -- On July 10, city bike designer, Linus Bike, commends Grey Tedford after he completed a 3,100-mile cycling trek for the Paddy Rossbach Youth Camp, which is part of the Amputee Coalition of America.
According to a July 8th, 2013 article publish on Staugustine.com, entitled, “Cyclist pedals 3,100 miles to help amputees,” cyclist Grey Tedford, a 19 year-old from Bruce, Mississippi, pedaled into St. Augustine on Saturday, completing a 41-day, 3,100-mile solo bicycle trek from San Diego that left him “tired but inspired.”
Tedford tells StAugustine.com, “It was a great experience, quite an adventure. I certainly had some challenges along the way, but getting it done feels good and I’ve come away with a lot of great memories.”
The cyclist began his ride on May 27th to raise money for the Paddy Rossbach Youth Camp, which is part of the Amputee Coalition of America, a “nonprofit organization that assists people with limb loss and offers them advocacy, education and support.”
Tedford was inspired to fundraise for this cause for reasons close to his heart. Both of his father’s legs were amputated as a result of a peripheral vascular disease. His mother had to have her leg amputated because of a blood clot and his grandmother had a leg amputated for unknown reasons before passing away in 2009.
He says, “I have seen and felt first-hand the mental distress that losing a limb can bring so I wanted to raise money to help people all across the country with the same problems.” He was able to raise a total of $5,720 because of his efforts.
Jason Latty, a representative from Linus Bike, a city bike designer, commends the 19 year-old for making it through his long journey. “What Grey did was no easy feat and the fact that he did it in order to raise awareness for a charity that hits close to home is even more admirable. We here at Linus Bike just want to let him know that we’re proud to have someone like him in the cycling community. Well done, Grey.”
