Clarion Safety Systems Attends ISO TC 145/SC2/WG1 Conference in London
MILFORD, Pa. (PRWEB) June 06, 2019 -- Angela Lambert, Clarion Safety Systems’ Director of Standards Compliance, recently attended the 43rd meeting of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) TC 145/SC2/WG1 held May 23-24 in London, England. Angela attended the conference as a delegate representative of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and is one of only five ANSI committee representatives in the United States.
The ISO TC 145/SC2/WG1 committee is responsible for the library of ISO 7010 registered symbols and the ISO 3864 set of standards. Essentially, they are directly in charge of safety symbol registration. During their meetings, categories such as safety sign identification, shapes, symbols and colors are regularly reviewed and updated based on safety best practices and case law. The committee has published twenty ISO standards with several standards currently under development.
Angela has been a delegate representative for the American National Standards Institute since 2016. One of the primary goals of ANSI is to ensure the safety and health of people and the environment. ANSI is involved in and oversees the use of norms and guidelines that directly affect safety across all sectors and industries. They also accredit standards developers that are responsible for creating global safety signage. Angela’s ANSI representation and attendance at events such as the ISO TC 145/SC2/WG1 conference provide invaluable insight, allowing Clarion to stay up-to-date with developing global safety standards for both workplace safety signage and public space safety visuals.
“It’s gratifying to be a representative of the American National Standards Institute,” says Angela Lambert. “Working together with this dedicated group of global safety professionals to further the development and implementation of standardized safety systems is a wonderful experience. My participation on the committee allows for continued learning opportunities and provides helpful safety standards insight that I am able to bring back and apply to our work at Clarion Safety Systems.”
During the 43rd meeting of ISO TC 145/SC2/WG1 several topics were discussed. Among them were maintenance of ISO 7010 (graphical symbols for registered safety signs) and proposed new symbols that are currently in the content development stage. The next proposed meeting is tentatively scheduled for fall of 2019.
