LaunchCode will help deepen the pool of candidates and give aspiring developers a path to a very bright future.

Today Clearent is pleased to announce its participation in LaunchCode, a revolutionary program geared towards growing the developer talent pool in the greater St. Louis area. LaunchCode was started by Jim McKelvey, who is best known for his role launching mobile payment processor Square.

Talented developers are a very hot commodity and are often recruited away from St. Louis area companies. The goal of LaunchCode is to boost the number of skilled developers in the region and connect developers looking for jobs with local technology firms.

Because Clearent is one of the fastest growing credit card processing companies in the country and the third fastest growing company in St. Louis, it has a tremendous need for talented developers. This growth was made possible because of Clearent’s proprietary payment processing systems, which help the company provide many unique benefits to its sales partners and merchants.

Payment processing presents unique challenges and opportunities for developers, including large scale, high velocity big data analytics, highly complex transaction processing, cloud computing/reporting and the proliferation of mobile and e-Commerce point-of-sale solutions. Clearent is actively looking for developers to create elegant solutions that solve important problems for its partners and merchants.

Clearent is one of 100 companies participating in the LaunchCode program. Hiring companies agree to place aspiring coders with one of their experienced developers until the new programmer is up to speed and eventually receives a full-time job. This process, known as pair programming, is a common practice at Clearent and many Silicon Valley startups.

Working closely with St. Louis University and Washington University, LaunchCode is also making sure that students have the skills they need to successfully handle programming positions upon graduation.

“We are proud of the fact that we have created over 50 jobs in St. Louis. We want to continue to hire locally but the market for technical talent is remarkably competitive. LaunchCode will help deepen the pool of candidates and give aspiring developers a path to a very bright future,” said Dan Geraty, CEO of Clearent.
