Natchitoches Pecans To Carry Clementine Hunter-Inspired Ceramics and Embroidery

Hand-painted ceramics, pillows, and towels from Gitter Gallery’s Clementine Hunter Collection will be available alongside signature gourmet pecans, pecan gift tins, and other pecan products.

Natchitoches Pecans has announced the addition of a unique collection of ceramics and embroidery recreating the works of Clementine Hunter to its product line. Hunter, one of the most important self-taught American artists of the 20th century, was born in 1886 at Hidden Hill Plantation, which was later renamed Little Eva Plantation - the home of Natchitoches Pecans.

The Louisiana pecan company strives to promote the legacy of the artist who, without formal training, painted scenes from her life on the plantation: baptisms, weddings, zinnias, fishing, playing cards, cotton picking and pecan picking. Already available from Natchitoches Pecans is a “Clementine for the Holidays” gift box featuring a variety of sweet and savory pecan products.

Doug Gitter of Gitter Gallery created The Clementine Hunter Collection to share his love of the self-taught artist. The collection features hand-painted ceramic platters, bowls, and dinnerware as well as hand-embroidered pillows and linen hand towels. All items feature recreations of Clementine’s work. Gitter selected a group of highly-skilled artisans to create the collection, and no two pieces are alike.

The collection - available in addition to Natchitoches Pecans’ traditional shelled pecans, spiced pecans, pecan candies, gourmet pecan oil, and other pecan gift items - will be available at The Little Eva Plantation Pecan Orchard Store in Cloutierville, LA as well as online at

With every purchase made from The Clementine Hunter Collection by Gitter Gallery, a portion of the proceeds goes toward preservation and interpretation of the Clementine Hunter House at Melrose Plantation, a National Historic Landmark, where Clementine lived the remainder of her life.
