George Rupp, Chairman of the IB Board of Governors, former President of Rice University, Columbia University, and the International Rescue Committee talks to Global Education Publisher CMRubinWorld.

In a revealing new Global Search for Education interview, Rupp shares his insights into the future of education and gives an incisive breakdown of what contemporary global education today needs most. He also gives a preview of the recommendations he offers in his forthcoming book, Beyond Individualism: The Challenge of Inclusive Communities (CU Press September 2015), such as his “firm conviction that to enhance sound institutions so that they become even better requires building on the core strengths at the heart of the institution’s identity — not to attempt to construct a new or different institution and certainly not to imitate some other institution.” For the International Baccalaureate Organization to which Rupp was just appointed as Chairman of the Board, this means he will work towards fostering multicultural competence and building further relations with underrepresented regions of the world.
