Yemenese Artist Uses Photography to Eliminate Ignorance, Educate, and Inspire the World
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 28, 2016 -- Thana Faroq was born and raised in Yemen. At the age of 16 she won a scholarship and finished high school in Canada, where she completed the IB Diploma Programme. After winning a second scholarship, she travelled to the U.S. to study International Relations and Photography at Clark University.
As a crossroads between East and West, Yemen’s history is characterized by conflict. Faroq documents street life, telling people’s day to day stories thru her photos. She provides audiences all over the world with powerful images – the goal being “to eliminate ignorance, educate and inspire, even during times of war.”
In an exclusive interview with C. M. Rubin, Thana talks about storytelling through pictures, the role her education played in her incredible journey as an artist, and the capacity of the human spirit to prevail.
