Vinyl is tough, long lasting, and able to withstand heavy use, both indoors and out. It is easy to clean, sanitize and disinfect, not to mention easy to maintain. These qualities are always in demand.

During an October 2014 interview with company executives, leading USA manufacturer of bellman carts, Glaro Inc., announced that it is seeing an increase in customer inquiries for bellman carts with vinyl decks During the interview, the company shared some insights on why this may be occuring, based on over 25 years of experience in this industry.

Traditionally, bellman carts were built to serve the hotel industry. Moving luggage for hotel guests was a cart’s single function and carts were not considered for multi-purpose use. Flash forward to 2014, and the industry has evolved significantly. Not only are carts now serving new functions in diverse types of facilities, but they are also expected to perform at a much higher level without compromising their front of the house design. Experts say that improvements in the overall quality of carts as well as the introduction of six wheel carts has helped facilities recognize the more diversified uses of this equipment and has fueled rising standards.

In response, bellman cart manufacturers began to re-imagine and re-engineer many of the traditional bellman cart features, down to the type of deck surfaces that can be used. Glaro Inc. announces that one of the results is the introduction of hi tech materials such as coin style vinyl decks.

“In a situation where both the cart’s utility and performance became priorities, it was apparent that alternative deck surfaces were needed,” says Executive Vice President Robert Betensky. “Glaro innovated new surfaces while maintaining quality and leadership.”

While executives say that carpet is expected to remain popular well into the future, the bellman cart manufacturer believes that coin design vinyl decks are gaining popularity because they excel in the following areas:

  • Durability
  • Stain Resistance
  • Cleaning and Disinfecting
  • Maintenance
  • All Weather Use

“Vinyl is tough, long lasting, and able to withstand heavy use, both indoors and out. It is easy to clean, sanitize and disinfect, not to mention easy to maintain. These qualities are always in demand,” says Plant Manager Robert Glass.

Looking forward, Glaro Inc. believes that facilities such as hospitals, hotels, nursing homes, senior living centers and airports, to name a few, will increase their use of vinyl decks to meet these higher functional and hygiene standards.

In a recent interview, Glaro Inc. explained how a vinyl deck helps a cart become more universal. The product development team revealed that vinyl decking can be used for utility purposes such as for maintenance projects and moving equipment, supplies and back of the house items in addition to moving luggage. The benefit is that one cart can do many jobs anywhere in a facility without compromising appearances. A more versatile deck creates opportunities for new uses and subsequently helps operations run smoother. Carts with this surface also save money as they serve as luggage carts and utility carts.
