DENVER, June 4, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The 2019 Colorado Classic® presented by VF Corporation announced tandem male/female teams of announcers for television streaming and on-stage for this year's 2019 game-changing pro women's race. Brad Sohner and Meredith Miller will host the TV production for live streaming and Dave Towle and Janel Holcomb will host the on-stage announcing at the event.
The commentators for the live TV streaming for the Colorado Classic will have the rare opportunity to announce a live women's pro race end-to-end, at a time when other pro races are cutting back their live coverage of pro women's cycling. With two hours of free live video streaming coverage each day of the race, the Colorado Classic will put women's pro cycling and Colorado on a global media stage like never before. The live stream and on-demand replays will be syndicated to fans around the world through cycling and partner websites as well as though Facebook Live and the race's Tour Tracker mobile app.
The streaming TV coverage of the race will be announced by Meredith Miller and Brad Sohner. Since retiring from pro racing, Miller has worked as a PR/social media manager for cycling teams, individuals and events, and now works full-time at Rapha as the RCC Chapter Coordinator in Boulder. Miller has been commentating for several years and covered events including US Road Nationals, US Cross Nationals, Waterloo Cyclocross World Cup, and UCI cyclocross races with GCN. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Sohner is a sports commentator and TV producer for a wide range of sports with a long-time specialty in professional cycling. He has commentated on top-level cycling races including the Tour of California, USA Cycling Road and TT National Championship, and UCI Road World Championships.
"As a former professional cyclist and a long-time Colorado resident, I'm honored to be part of the Colorado Classic which has stepped up to showcase the talents of women's cycling," said Meredith Miller. "Bringing the action to life alongside Brad Sohner is always a fun experience, and it will be especially exciting to bring attention to this all-women's event that it deserves."
"The Colorado Classic represents a huge step forward in women's racing that cycling fans have been asking for for years," said Brad Sohner. "It's not only world class racing, but world class coverage as well, so cycling fans all over the world will be able to enjoy the racing they love with quality and convenient live coverage. I can't wait to get back in the booth with Meredith."
The on-stage announcing throughout the four-day event will be presented by Janel Holcomb and Dave Towle. Holcomb is an American racing cyclist who competed in the 2013 UCI women's team world championship time trial in Florence. Holcomb has previously announced the Colorado Classic in both 2017 and 2018. Towle is known as a passionate race announcer who knows the ins-and-outs of modern-day cycling and racing.
"Returning for my third year to the Colorado Classic will be especially sweet as RPM Events Group gives women's professional cycling the center stage and shows the world how it can be done," said Janel Holcomb. "The women will deliver exciting racing and I'm thrilled to help narrate for the fans as the community gathers to cheer on these incredible athletes!"
"I am beyond excited to be at this year's race," said Dave Towle. "This is a turning point on the American cycling timeline. A race that is independently supporting a quality women's tour is something that everyone in the sport has been looking for and finally got it. This is an incredible opportunity for the racers and for these communities. I cannot wait for everyone to realize what the upside is from hosting this event, participating in this event, and having such a strong team behind this race is going to be huge part for the credibility of this race."
Towle and Sohner are also co-hosts of USA Cycling's new weekly digital video show, "This Week in American Cycling," produced in partnership with Cyclestream.tv.
More than a race, the Colorado Classic is becoming a movement, helping to create equity in female professional cycling while inspiring and empowering women of all ages to transform the world through sports.
