Erlanger Agency Initiates Charity Drive in Collaboration with The National African American Male Wellness Walk to Raise Awareness for Preventable Diseases
Columbus, OH (PRWEB) April 06, 2016 -- Erlanger Agency’s caring team introduces the latest campaign in their ongoing community enrichment program benefitting the families of greater Columbus, OH. The twelfth annual National African American Male Wellness Walk Initiative is an effort to raise awareness for preventable diseases which afflict men in the community at large. Readers who would like to contribute may now do so at: https://www.crowdrise.com/a-long-walk-to-health-and-happiness/fundraiser/boberlanger.
The National African American Male Wellness Walk (AAMWW) is an initiative to promote the overall health and wellness of the community’s men, which is gaining momentum across the country. African American males die from preventable diseases at almost 10 times the rate of other men. AAMWW strives to raise awareness, educate and guide men towards healthy avenues. Working cooperatively with healthcare providers, community health organizations, businesses and governmental agencies, the AAMWW has provided thousands of free health screenings in Ohio, resulting in recognition from President Obama. Governor Kasich has declared August to be ‘African American Male Wellness Month’, and the AAMWW will be hosting walks throughout the state, with Columbus’ 5k walk scheduled for Saturday, August 13.
“We are very pleased to be supporting the AAMWW,” said Bob Erlanger, owner of Erlanger Agency. “The goal of our community involvement program is to build a stronger community, and the statistics don’t lie. We need to raise awareness and get more African American to take a proactive approach to their health in order to prevent premature death. Their families and communities need them alive and healthy.”
The Erlanger team is hard at work mobilizing support through social media and an email awareness campaign, and has dedicated a full page of their monthly magazine to feature all the details of the AAMWW. Our Hometown magazine is delivered to thousands of households in Columbus and surrounding areas. The electronic version of the current issue may be viewed here: http://www.erlangeragency.com/Our-Hometown-Magazine_46.
Putting their money where their mouth is, the agency itself will donate $10 to this very worthy cause for every person recommended to Erlanger Agency for an insurance quote, with no purchase necessary.
