The producers of Communities of Distinction are pleased to announce that the community of Membertou in Nova Scotia will be featured in an upcoming segment on "Best Places to Live, Work, and Visit" as part of the show's "Discover Canada" series.
The show explores the ways in which cities, towns, counties, and regions are driving economic growth. Hosted by Terry Bradshaw, the Communities of Distinction show travels throughout the U.S. and Canada to bring viewers firsthand insights from community leaders, business owners, and area residents of some of the most interesting and inspiring places.
Membertou is located on the beautiful Cape Breton Island, a few kilometers from the heart of Sydney, Nova Scotia. It's situated in the middle of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, which has a population of around 100,000 people. Membertou is home to over 1,400 Mi'kmaw people and is a vibrant and thriving community and organization today.
Membertou works hard to bring employment opportunities to community members and residents of the greater Cape Breton Regional Municipality. In fact, Membertou is the 4th largest employer in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. It features a diverse business sector, with several initiatives in the development stage.
