PHILADELPHIA, March 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Community Legal Services (CLS) of Philadelphia held a reception at Pond Lehocky's Philadelphia headquarters Feb. 26, honoring the legal aid organization's donors. Pond Lehocky is a proud partner of CLS, helping bring free civil legal assistance to low-income Philadelphians. The event was attended by many of the nonprofit organization's top supporters. "We feel extremely lucky to have [Pond Lehocky] as partners in and supporters of work that truly changes lives for low income families," CLS Executive Director Deborah L. Freedman said.
Pond Lehocky Managing Partner Sam Pond spoke at the event, praising CLS for the important work it does in the Philadelphia community and seeking to inspire more to donate to the cause.
"Thank you to CLS for allowing us the honor of hosting this event. Hosting an event or writing a check to support CLS is easy, it is CLS that does the hard work," Pond said.
"You are the real heroes and champions, fighting and sacrificing day in and day out for those in our community who are most in need of legal assistance. You are an inspiration to us all," he added.
Founded by the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 1966, CLS has become nationally recognized as a model for legal services programs. It has provided free legal assistance to more than 11,700 Philadelphians in need each year. CLS aids clients who face the threat of losing their homes, incomes, health care, and even their families.
CLS's cutting edge legal services complements the work of Pond Lehocky, which focuses on aiding injured and disabled workers. The firm strives to improve the community through educating the public about the law and giving back through volunteer efforts. The partnership with CLS underscores that commitment.
In addition, Pond Lehocky associate Keld Wenge serves as a member of CLS' Leadership Council, which helps to raise money annually to fund the organization.
Pond Lehocky has made community engagement on local, national and global levels a centerpiece of its firm culture. The firm's partners believe that giving back to the community through educational and charitable efforts is not just an option, it's a duty. At the heart of that obligation is ensuring equal access to the justice system for all citizens no matter their income or financial condition.
Teaming up with CLS will help the firm reach the neediest Philadelphians who would not otherwise have the resources to get legal help. Pond Lehocky looks forward to working with CLS on future projects and events.
