TINTON FALLS, N.J., Oct. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Compassion-First Pet Hospitals, a family of well-known and respected specialty and emergency veterinary hospitals across the U.S., announced today that Kerri Marshall, DVM, has joined the Compassion-First team as the Vice President of Innovation.
Dr. Marshall will be responsible for implementing technology that will streamline collaboration across hospitals. She will also focus on creating a true veterinary ecosystem through a technology platform where specialists and referring general practice veterinarians can connect and engage with clients as partners dedicated to improving the lives of pets and elevating veterinary care beyond current expectations.
"Kerri's reputation and commitment to continually improving the client experience, business sustainability, and medical quality of veterinary practice through technology innovation will add a valuable perspective to our executive team and board, fully underscoring our commitment to our partners and thousands of veterinary practices worldwide," shared John Payne, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board for Compassion-First Pet Hospitals.
"I have known Kerri since her days at Banfield and I believe strongly that her knowledge and foundation for technological innovation will enable us to achieve our goal of becoming the Mayo Clinic of veterinary medicine even faster," says Payne.
Dr. Marshall is a second-generation veterinarian who after 10 years of practicing and three years as a staff veterinarian at the University of California, Davis, became a part of Banfield's founding management team. While at Banfield, she designed various technology applications, including electronic health records for pets, medical record sharing between hospitals, a pet parent portal and a digital radiology platform to support the practices.
Following her 16 years with Banfield, Dr. Marshall joined the executive team at Trupanion, a provider of medical insurance plans for cats and dogs throughout the U.S. and Canada. She was the lead innovator creating the patented Trupanion Express®, effectively ending the reimbursement model of pet insurance and introducing a new technology enabled veterinary direct pay model and leading the claims and IT teams through an IPO in 2014. Most recently, Dr. Marshall was the chief veterinary officer and on the board of directors for BabelBark, a holistic virtual care ecosystem that helps owners care for their pet and communicate with local pet businesses and veterinarians digitally. Dr. Marshall will continue to serve on the BabelBark Advisory Board as well as on the board of directors for Inulogica, a company offering personalized pet health messaging at point of care and beyond.
"It is such an honor to reconnect with John Payne and to bring his vision forward," said Dr. Marshall. "Compassion-First Pet Hospitals' approach to elevating patient outcomes is unrivaled. I am thrilled to be a part of this incredible professional team who will make such an amazing difference in the lives of pets."
Dr. Marshall holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Oregon, and a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Washington State University.
