CompuHigh Online High School and Garrett College Working on Articulation Agreement
(PRWEB) September 06, 2013 -- CompuHigh Online High School officials met with Garrett College Dean of Instruction to discuss the details of an articulation agreement between the schools. CompuHigh is interested in working with Garrett College to provide college level classes to high school students.
CompuHigh has similar articulation agreements with community colleges in Kansas. This has allowed CompuHigh to develop an “Advanced Diploma” program which includes classes taken for dual high school / college credit. CompuHigh would like to collaborate with Garrett to expand this program and provide college credit options in Maryland, West Virginia, and other Eastern states.
Garrett College is also exploring possibilities with CompuHigh’s mastery learning system. Mastery learning allows students to work on a skill set until they have mastered it before moving on to more advanced skill sets. According to James Allen, the Garrett College Dean of Instruction, “I am impressed by CompuHigh’s emphasis on mastery learning and the quality of the education it provides. I look forward to working with CompuHigh’s staff to develop a dual enrollment program and to explore other possible partnership opportunities.”
Stan Kanner, the Principal at CompuHigh, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration: “Garrett College has been wonderful to work with. We’ve enjoyed meeting with Jim [Dean James Allen] because of his clear commitment to his students’ learning. We share a common goal with Garrett College and see great potential for this collaboration.”
Garrett College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and is approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. Garrett College offers a variety of associates degrees and certificate programs including its internationally renowned Adventure Sports degree.
CompuHigh Online High School has been offering individual courses and high school diploma programs using its system of mastery learning since 1994. CompuHigh is accredited by AdvancED (North Central and SACS) and is an approved course provider for the NCAA.
