New Infographic on Computer Aided Design (CAD) Released By Cutting Edge Laser

Whether observing skyscrapers, bridges, vehicles, or even a house lamp, CAD was almost certainly involved in the object’s production. One of the most common (and earliest) uses of CAD software is manufacturing. CAD began in the 1950’s, when the US Air Force began developing graphical systems to simulate ground environments. In the early 1960’s, Sketchpad was developed by an MIT PhD student named Ivan Sutherland. Although it was not 3-dimensional at this time, Cambridge would build on these concepts and develop 3D CAD just five years later. The largest producers of CAD software like Dassault Systemmes (SolidWorks) and Autodesk (AutoCAD) would not be founded until 1981 and 1982. Other products would revolutionize the industry and bring tools to the consumer world.
The article concludes with a brief section on the future of CAD, which Cutting Edge Laser believes will involve a more life-like design experience. Instead of working with 3D objects in a 2D environment, the article says CAD is moving towards a 3D (possibly holographic) design environment. Such systems are already being built today, and will continue to revolutionize the design and manufacturing industries.
