Connection converting CAD files well ahead of UK Government BIM 2016 deadline
Clerkenwell, London (PRWEB UK) 5 August 2013 -- Connection have announced this week that they are well underway with implementing the BIM approach to making their portfolio of CAD files available in the industry standard Revit format.
The UK Government Construction Strategy is a government initiative that states that all Public Sector projects must be implemented using the BIM (Building Information Modelling) approach by 2016.
Kelvin Bromley, MD at Connection commented, “BIM is a major change in the way that construction projects will be handled, demanding from all suppliers a much more collaborative way of working. We are fully on board with this approach and will have all our files available in Revit format well in advance of the 2016 deadline.”
BIM involves a ‘3D only’ approach for designing buildings, and this means that clients will be demanding higher quality information from suppliers.
Connection are entirely supportive of this new way of working as it means buildings can be designed quicker, smarter and with less impact on the environment - which is in total sympathy with Connection’s own sustainability approach.
