Conrad Siegel Honored As 2014 Champion of Philanthropy
Harrisburg, PA (PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- Conrad Siegel Actuaries, delivering comprehensive employee benefits services, is pleased to announce its founder, Conrad “Connie” Siegel, has been honored by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities as the recipient of the second annual Champion of Philanthropy Award.
Selected for his commitment to nonprofit growth and sustainability, Siegel has been a vital asset to The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. Siegel was elected to The Greater Harrisburg Foundation, now The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, in 1987 and was named Chairman of the Board in 1995. Siegel and William L. Lehr, last year’s Champion of Philanthropy honoree, co-authored the current investment and distribution policy and initiated strategic changes that enabled the foundation to grow and adapt swiftly in changing times.
“Connie is an inspirational entrepreneur, engineering the restructure of the foundation into what we utilize today. Through his service to improving efficiencies, the foundation has grown from 5 million in assets to 72 million in assets,” said Janice Black, President and CEO at The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. “Connie consistently demonstrates his dedication to nonprofits and is always willing to share his expertise to benefit these organizations.”
Siegel, the first fully credentialed actuary in Harrisburg, started Conrad Siegel Actuaries in 1963. He focused on providing fee-based services, impartial advice, and excellent customer service. Today, the firm has grown to 100 employees including 30 credentialed actuaries, making it one of the 20 largest actuarial consulting firms in the country.
Additionally, Siegel has worked with and supported many charitable community initiatives including his 13 years as a board member and officer of Harristown and his 50 years as a member of The Rotary Club of Harrisburg including a year as President in 1986 - 1987. In 2012, Siegel was named to the Central Penn Business Journal Hall of Fame for his visionary leadership and deep commitment to the community. He and his wife Gail have also been honored by the Tocqueville Society of the United Way and by the Jewish Family Service for their charitable efforts.
