Constructech’s Technology Day Identifies How to Address Infrastructure Funding Gap
CAROL STREAM, Ill. (PRWEB) August 14, 2018 -- Constructech will address the infrastructure funding gap at the Technology Day 2018 event, being held Thursday, August 23, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago – Arlington Heights, Ill.
Investing in infrastructure takes time, money, and resources. In many countries revenues are not at the levels needed to adequately cover the costs required for services such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure investments. This has led to a $36 trillion dollar gap in global infrastructure funding.
“I have been saying for years that if we don’t address the problem with infrastructure, we are going to see more failures,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director, Constructech magazine, and president of Specialty Publishing Media. “The Lynchburg Dam is a reminder to all just how fragile our infrastructure really is, and that something needs to be done about it today.”
This event will kick off with a panel of leading GCs in the United States and Canada to uncover how to invest in infrastructure—and how they are using technology to position themselves in the North American market.
“Technology can help companies focused on capital projects maximize every dollar of investment in infrastructure and other markets,” says Jake Macholtz, chief executive officer, InEight. “Contractors, owners, and engineers deploying innovative technology are able to increase productivity, control costs, effectively manage quality, and improve performance to deliver projects on time. By more efficiently building projects, the capital projects industry can make significant headway in overcoming current infrastructure challenges.”
The panel, moderated by Smedley, will include:
• Chris Dill, CIO, Kiewit
• Chuck Freiheit, COO, F.H. Paschen
• Ted Gibbs, corporate counsel, The Walsh Group, Ltd.
• David Wilson, chief innovation officer, Bechtel
“The problems and challenges in our industry are well documented,” says Dill. “The question is what are we doing about it, and how can technology help? I’m looking forward to exploring that and more at Constructech Technology Day.”
