ControlRad Partners with Tobii as Exclusive Provider of Eye-Tracking Technology for its Radiation Reduction Solutions
Tobii's industry-leading eye-tracking technology will be utilized to provide innovative gaze-directed interface for ControlRad's radiation reduction solutions.
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ControlRad, Inc., a medical technology company focused on dramatically reducing unnecessary radiation exposure to patients and physicians during fluoroscopic procedures, announced today a partnership with Stockholm-based Tobii AB, the world leader in eye-tracking technology. Tobii will be the exclusive source of ControlRad's eye-tracker interface for its solution that provides up to 75% radiation reduction technology without reducing image quality or impacting provider workflow.
Eye-tracking technology is used in a variety of commercial, scientific, research, and consumer applications across a wide range of devices and platforms, including in assistive technology hardware and software integrations that help those with communication and mobility challenges. This will be the first and only application of Tobii's eye tracking solution in the medical imaging radiation reduction field.
"ControlRad is excited to partner with Tobii, the leader in eye-tracking technology," said Guillaume Bailliard, President and CEO of ControlRad. "We've already demonstrated, including in a peer-reviewed study, that we can reduce radiation exposure to both patients and the medical staff by up to 75% using an eye-tracker. This partnership allows us to integrate the state-of-the-art Tobii eye-trackers to maximize these results. Specifically, the eye-tracking technology allows the operator to seamlessly control the X-ray beam optimizing image quality to a clinically-relevant region-of-interest while delivering appropriate detail in the surrounding image."
